Angel Stories We love to get stories from our
customers and Willow Tree friends. If you have an angel story you would
like to share with us, use our contact form
to submit it. Please use the subject "Angel Story" and include the story
and the title for the story in the form. Please do not submit articles
that come from other websites or stories that may be copyrighted, such
as magazine articles, unless you provide the source for the article. If
we like it, we will ask permission to post it here.
The story can be "loosely" related to angels. Stories
can be funny, heartwarming or informative. Got a favorite recipe that
uses angel hair pasta? That would be fine too. Feel free to
submit your angel story to us and our crack
panel of judges will review it for inclusion on this page.

An Angel for a Little Angel
|
I was aware of and loved Willow Tree figurines before my granddaughter was born, but her birth made me even more attached to them. Gracie was born on March 31, 2006, with multiple severe congenital heart defects. With her birth I started to buy most of the Willow Tree angels. One day, when Gracie was finally home for the hospital after two major surgeries, her mother was holding her. Behind the chair where they were sitting was the armoir where my daughter kept many of the figurines. One of those was the Heart of Gold. Gracie stared and stared at that figurine, and then she smiled. To date, we have collected 16 of the angels and several of the family figurines. The angels, particularly, have sustained and comforted our family and have been a reminder of our faith as Gracie has gone through several angioplasties and one more open-heart surgery. She has more surgeries to face, and I just want to thank you for the help and comfort you've given our family. Submitted by Pat R.

Angels and What They Do
|
Many tasks have been assigned to Angels in Jewish and Christian tradition, in folklore and folk theology. People have been guessing at it for 4000 years, probably longer. Angels are sent by God to bring the truth, especially the big truths, to specific people in critical situations. The biggest truth (the one that Jesus Christ was living, dying proof of) is that God is with us and for us, and the angel is here as a part of that. God's message can be a warning, or be a comfort in times of danger and fear. There's more going on than the careless eye can see, so an angel points it out.A messenger is sent in God's stead, like a diplomatic envoy. What happens then is between humans and God. Angels are not there to be meddling fix-its, but our helpers in responding to the truth. Angels guide us in the way God wants us to go in a specific situation, sometimes calling us to take a specific action. We can just blow them off, but people usually find themselves responding instantly with some amount of trust, comfort, or awe. Angels can celebrate and have joy, and presumably other emotions as well. They don't negotiate, unless God tells them to. They do not decay or die, since they are spiritual beings. They even pray for us, as did the angel in Zechariah (1:12). They are among the unseen in "all that is, seen and unseen" that the Nicene Creed says the Father made. They exist to praise God and bear the message and task for which God sends them. And they appear to people of all religions, or even of no religion at all, when God wants them to listen. People from many times and cultures (even those who are not Christian, Jewish, Mormon, or Muslim) insist that angels have another task : that of protecting people. The philosopher Philo described their protective role. Scripture doesn't say much about this role of "guardian angel". Psalm 34:7 is the clearest example; also the angel for each of the Asia Minor churches in Revelation. Jesus speaks of children as having their own angels. In Acts 12:15, the people at John Mark's mother's house thought their servant was seeing Peter's assigned angel at the doorway, when it was really Peter who had just escaped jail, thanks to help from an angel. Whether the jail-breaking angel really was 'assigned' to Peter (as they thought) or a different angel assigned just to the task is not said. Thomas Aquinas insisted that God gave everyone their own guardian angel. Angel of God, my guardian dear to whom God's love commits me here. Ever this day/night be at my side to light and guard, to rule and guide. Many of us have had an experience with what we believed are Angels.. it would be wonderful to share those moments with all of us. Please share with all of us your Angel Moment.
